Foreign mold giants enter the Chinese market and set off another investment boom

The mold manufacturing plant invested and constructed by the international mold giant Finland Belrose Company was officially put into use recently. The factory is fully built in accordance with European and American standards, with an initial investment of 60 million yuan. It mainly provides high-end mold products for the telecommunications, health care, electronics, automotive and other industries, and has testing and verification capabilities.

Recently, at the China Mold Base Industry Upgrade Forum held in Huangyan, Zhejiang Province, relevant experts reminded that a new round of campaign by foreign mold giants to accelerate their entry into the Chinese market has been launched, and the crisis in the local mold industry has become prominent due to “inherent deficiencies”. In the “close competition” with foreign molds, the local mold industry urgently needs to accelerate the technological brand upgrading.

Statistics from relevant departments show that the transfer of mold enterprises from developed countries to China has been accelerating since last year. In May last year, the Mitsui Automobile Mould Co., Ltd. jointly established by Fuji Industrial Technology Co., Ltd., the Japanese mold manufacturer, and Mitsui Products Co., Ltd., officially signed a contract to settle in Yantai, Shandong Province; Cole Asia of the United States and Dongfeng Automobile Mould Co., Ltd. of China jointly established “Mold Standard Parts Co., Ltd.”, with Cole Asia accounting for 63% of the shares. Last July, AB Company, a Japanese company engaged in mold production, went to Shanghai for the first time with PC peripheral equipment manufacturers in Taiwan to establish a factory for telephone mold products. Mold enterprises from the European Union, South Korea, and Singapore have also intensively organized groups to visit China and seek regional and cooperative partners. “Mold manufacturing is the first of all manufacturing, known as the ‘mother of industry’.”.

“In products such as electronics, automobiles, motors, electrical appliances, instruments, meters, household appliances, and communications, 60% to 80% of the components depend on mold forming.” In an interview with reporters, Dr. Wang Qin from the Institute of Industrial Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, analyzed that at present, the production base of the world’s manufacturing industry is accelerating its transfer to China, and Chinese manufacturing industry is entering a stage of high-end upgrading and development. The demand for high-quality and precise molds will continue to rise. After the entry of foreign molds into China in the mid-1990s, mold giants in developed countries have set off a wave of investment in order to seize the opportunity, which will make Chinese local mold industry face the “close challenge” of foreign advanced technology and high-quality products, and the domestic production space will be squeezed.
